Harmony in Motion preparing for holidays

Under its new director, Sandy Newcomer, Harmony in Motion has been busy preparing for the upcoming holidays.

The group rehearses every Monday night from 7-9:30 p.m. at Bristol Glen in Newton and are always welcoming new and interested women singers to their group. They will be performing their first holiday concert for the residents of Bristol Glen there on Monday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m.

Attendees will find a large part of their group entertaining the Montague Senior Citizens on Friday, Dec. 12, at noon. The following Friday, Dec. 19, a group of the chorus will be caroling throughout various places in the county, spreading some holiday cheer to many individuals in nursing homes, SCARC facilities, and other agencies.

This women’s a cappella four-part harmony chorus has been partially funded by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through the State/County Partnership Block Grant Program, as administered by the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council. They perform often throughout the county and recently were the entertainment for the Andover Senior Citizens at their luncheon in October.

Along with their holiday songs, Harmony in Motion has also begun preparation for another show that will take place on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at Newton High School.
