Harold L. Hosking, Sr.

    Harold L. Hosking Sr., 80, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014. He was the son of the late John and Edna (nee Struble) Hosking, born Aug. 11, 1934. He was born in Hamburg, N.J. and lived most of his life in Sussex and Wantage.

    Harold was employed as a mechanic and road foreman for the Borough of Sussex for 25 years, retiring many years ago. He was a member of the Sussex Fire Department since 1969 and an exempt firemen. He was a member of the Lone Pine Gun Club.

    Harold was predeceased by his wife, Doris May (nee Osborne) Hosking, and his son-in-law William C. Van Tassel, and his five brothers, Henry, George, John, Clyde, and Frank Hosking, and his two sisters, Margie Paugh and Gladys McHugh.

    Harold is survived by his daughter, Sandra Van Tassel of Delhi, N.Y., and his son, Skip Hosking, and his wife, Joan, of Wantage, and his two grandsons, Buck and Brett Hosking, and two great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Dorothy Havens and her husband, Walter, Fred Hosking and his wife, Sharon, and Betty Miedema and her husband, Sidney, and many nieces and nephews and friends.

    Relatives and friends will be received at Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third Street, Sussex, N,J., on Friday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with Sussex Fire Department services at 6:30 p.m., following services Pastor Alfred Jaeger to conclude wake services. In lieu of flowers donations, to the Sussex Fire Department 25 Loomis Ave., Sussex, NJ 07461 would be appreciated.
