Ramsey High School beat Vernon Township High School, 34-3, in a consolation football game on Thursday, Nov. 13, at Vernon Township High School.

Vernon finished at .500 for the season and was edged out by West Milford for the eighth and final playoff spot in the North Jersey Section 1, Group 3 conference. Vernon's season record is 5-5.

The Ramsey Rams also broke even this season. Ramsey concluded the season with a record of 6-5.

Both teams had problems holding onto the ball due to the cold and dampness. But the inclement weather added some excitement to the lopsided contest.

The contest exposed what has been plaguing Vernon all season and that is inconsistent play. For every step forward they make they follow up with two steps backwards. Coach Chuck Tepper put in some promising underclassmen to help out the senior players in the game. Hopefully next years Vikings will have that little extra something to push them further up the ladder and into the playoffs.
