Vernon Township High School's student council will sponsor a fundraiser on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the Sussex Friendly's from 6-9 p.m.

The student council will receive a portion of the proceeds.

Student Council is a leadership organization which serves as a liaison between administrators and the student body and organizes activities to promote community and a positive school climate. In addition, service learning is a hallmark of the organization.

VTHS Student Council recently sponsored a fundraiser through the Vernon Dairy Queen batting cages for a senior who has been stricken with cancer. Other service learning activities include a yearly Teens for Jeans collection, participation in the Clean Communities road cleanup program, and volunteering to help assembling 42,000 lunches for local Sussex and Warren food pantries.

In-school endeavors involve seasonal, interactive pep rallies, spirit weeks, movie nights, birthday bundles, a holiday door-decorating contest, Homecoming-related events, attendance at leadership conferences, and fundraising activities.

Student Council officers this year are: President Ben Anderson; Vice-President Kendall Cook; Secretary James Freeman; Recording Secretary R.J. Genneken; Treasurer, Bri Ryan; Management Team Emily Fussman and Nusha Farrakhzoda.
