Councilman-Elect Robert Holowach and Councilwoman-Elect Katherine Little attended their first Sussex Borough council meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 5, since being elected the previous day.

Their terms will begin in January.

Council President Marina Krynicky, who was not re-elected, was absent.

Little brought to the council's attention that no water is going over the dam because there is minimum flow.

Administrator Mark Zschack was aware that very little water is coming down, due to a beaver dam possibly being built further north.

Little also thanked all who voted.

"I'll do my best for Sussex Borough, as much as the good Lord gives me strength,” she said.

Decker also spoke and thanked Councilwoman Linda Masson for all the research she did regarding the water/sewer utility sale and making sure the public knew all the issues.

After the meeting, Robert Hollowach said he certainly appreciated anyone who came out and cast ballots. "Going forward we will have our hands full," Holowach said. "We have to work together."

Little agreed with that sentiment.

After the meeting, Councilwoman Georgeanna Stoll said that she believed the voter turnout was the second highest ever in Sussex Borough, and it was because of the water/sewer utility sale public referendum question.

Stoll was one of four council members who had voted for the public to decide whether to sell the water/sewer utility on July 29.

Council President Marina Krynicky, Councilman Bruce LaBar, Councilman Salvatore Lagattuta and Stoll had voted for the referendum. Councilwomen Linda Masson and Annette Stendor voted against the public voting on the question of whether or not to sell the water/sewer utility.

"The public had a right to decide," she said.

And it did by voting it down, 281-162.
