Walnut Ridge honors veterans

In what she describes as “The Little School with the Big Heart” Walnut Ridge Primary School Principal Rosemary Gebhardt continues to promote programs designed to stimulate the minds of the small children in her care, and honoring our country’s veterans was on this week’s agenda.

Under a bright blue sky on Monday, the most recent lesson was to honor those who fought to protect our liberties, freedoms, and the American way of life. With military veterans who are related to the school’s students as guests, a parade and solemn ceremonies were held at the school. The Vernon Township High School Viking Band led the parade that followed more than 100 veterans and their families as they marched to the rear of the school.

Special ceremonies and entertainment followed in the school’s all-purpose room.
