Glen Meadow student wins essay contest

VERNON — Students in Ms. Truax’s advanced social studies class from Glen Meadow Middle School in Vernon recently participated in Sussex County’s Salute to Military Veterans essay contest, sponsored by the Sussex County Department of Human Services.
This year’s topic was “Why are we saluting Sussex County Military Veterans?”
Hannah Van Blarcom received the highest honor for her essay, topping other middle school students from Sussex County. She read her first place essay on Sunday, Nov. 2, at an event at the Sussex County Fairgrounds to honor the sacrifices and contributions of our military veterans.
