— On Saturday evening, Nov. 15, Winslow Therapeutic Center, will host the annual Denim and Diamonds Gala fund raiser at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club at 206 Smith Clove Road in Central Valley.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the presentation of awards to this year's honorees, Alan Lipman and Mark Maloscay, nominated for their continued support of the riders at Winslow Therapeutic Center.

Lipman, a long-time supporter of Winslow Therapeutic Riding Center, is receiving the Making a Difference Award. He served as a board member for eight years and provided pro bono legal services.

Maloscay is receiving the prestigious Winslow Award.

He started volunteering at Winslow when it was at Borderland with Emeritus Executive Director Virginia Mazza and continues to this day.

Maloscay, a familiar face at the annual Duck Derby, consults and assists with much of Winslow's farm maintenance and enhancements and can be seen there on every snow day.

Forty years ago
Winslow was founded in 1974 and for 28 years the program was run out of several different local barns.

In 2002, with land donated and funding, Winslow Therapeutic Riding was able to open its own facility, known today as Winslow Therapeutic Riding Center, on 100 acres just off Route 17A in Warwick.

The state of the art facility, free from all barriers, and designed for those with special needs, has enabled thousands of riders to benefit from therapeutic riding and Hippotherapy, a form of physical therapy.

More than 400 staff from other therapeutic riding centers have also been trained and certified to be PATH, Intl. ((Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International) instructors at Winslow, a premier accredited center of PATH.

As a non-profit organization, Winslow is supported by grants and donations.
