Two seniors in the Creative Writing class at Vernon Township High School were winners in the Girls Expo Poetry Contest, placing second and third with their poems.

Hadley Benneyan won second place with her poem, “I Never Liked My Name,” while Morgan Parker won third place with her poem, “Quest to Inconvenience.”

They each received gift certificates to Ye Olde Book Shoppe in Warwick. The class will next be tackling NaNoWriMo, the National Novel Writing Month. Their goal will be to complete a 50,000-word novel between Nov. 1 and 30.
