How can I tell if my diamond is loose?

Losing a diamond or gemstone out of a ring of any size is a sad experience, and losing a big diamond can be tragic. To prevent this from happening, the best thing you can do is take your jewelry in for regular check-ups every 6 months. In between check-ups, you can see if stones are coming loose by gently prodding them with a fine pointed, nonmetallic object, like a toothpick. If the stone moves, it is probably loose. Stop wearing the piece, and bring it in to have the stone tightened by Andrea the jeweler.
