Vernon education group plans Meet the Candidates night

VERNON — The Vernon Township Education Association will sponsor a “Meet the Candidates Night” on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at 7 p.m. at Vernon Township High School.

The voting public will get to hear the views and objectives from each of the candidates running for the available positions on the Vernon Township Board of Education. The invited candidates are Cynthia Auberger, Edward DeYoung, Thomas Friesma, Robert Oliver, Justine VanBlarcom and Robert Walsh.

Each candidate will have the opportunity to give a 2-minute presentation in which they will be able to introduce themselves to the public. Afterward, each candidate will then be asked three questions by the evening’s moderator, VTEA Vice President Nicholas Demsak, relating to a range of local, state and national educationally relevant topics. The candidates will have two minutes to respond to each of the questions. There will be NO open Question and Answer session or debate between candidates.

Light refreshments will be served.
