Winternights Festival planned in Vernon

    The fourth annual Winternights Festival is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Vernon Nordic House, located at 233 Route 94 in Vernon.

    Admission will cost $3 for adults and $2 for senior citizens and children. Children ages 12 and younger will get in free. According to organizers, $1 will go twoard the Northern New Jersey Veterans Cemetery and $1 will go toward local Wallkill Valley VFW Post 8441.

    This year's guest will be Kellianna, vendor (CD's), and as a performer (singer of songs of myth and magic). Rejoining the festival will be the Norsewind band from Pennsylvania. This year, there will be a replica Viking boat along with replica artifacts from that period. The presenters have worked at prestigious museums sharing their knowledge and will gladly talk with and about Vikings to you during this event.

    The third and final runestone will be dedicated as part of the festivities. It contains the last eight letters of the viking alphabet (Elder Futhark). The Oracles Enclave will also be new and open this year
