Barbara Latella

Barbara Latella (nee Irvolino), 66 years old, died after an 8-year battle with breast cancer at Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover, N.J., on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014. Born to Carmine and Adelaide Irvolino in Paterson, N.J., she had lived in Lodi, N.J., before moving to the Barry Lakes section of Vernon Twp., N.J., 36 years ago.

Barbara worked as an aide and secretary for the Special Education Department of the Vernon Twp. School District. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, Highland Lakes, N.J., and served as a eucharistic minister, song leader, children’s choir director, choir member and CCD teacher there. She served as the program director for the Vernon PAL Bowling, was a band parent for Vernon Twp. High School, a member of the Sussex Tech Booster Club and a former Girl Scout Leader.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Latella (2014) and a brother, Anthony Irvolino, and was the devoted mother of Janine Latella and Sean Brady of Highland Lakes, NJ, Christopher Latella and his wife, Carmen, of Browns Mills, N.J., and Elyse Latella of Pittsburgh, Pa. Loving grandmother of Sage, Brooke and Adelynn Latella. Sister of Angela Irvolino of Totowa, N.J. Aunt of Kelly and Craig Irvolino.

The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94(1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, NJ on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014 from 2-6 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 at 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, Highland Lakes, NJ at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa, N.J.
