Vernon police charge 13 with trespassing at Camp Sussex

    Vernon Township police made 13 arrests last weekend and charged 13 people with trespassing at Camp Sussex.

    Police arrested three people, including Daniel Kica, 19, of Bloomingdale and two male juveniles on Saturday night after a report of possible trespassers on the camp.

    They were all released to their parents pending a future court date.

    Police also responded to Camp Sussex on Sunday and charged Michael Korol, 32, of Franklin Square, N.Y., Ryan Konrad, 30, of New York City,, Michael S. Gartland, 40, of Floral Park, N.Y., Timothy J. Power, 34, of New Hyde Park, N.Y., Jennifer L. Taub, 29, of the Bronx, Christine S. Power of New Hyde Park, Danielle E. Delle, 29, of Philadelphia, Melissa J. Simms, 42, Philadelphia and Juliana T. Chapman, 35, of Cheltenham, Pa., with defiant trespassing.

    They were issued a summons and will appear in Vernon Munciipal Court on Oct. 14.

    Vernon Township officials are in the process of investigating buying the camp from Empire Tax Fund, which bought up the old tax certificates from the township and foreclosed on the property.

    Also, a fire burned two cabins on the property on Sept. 7 in a fire officials deemed suspicious.
