Areta A. McIvers

Areta A. McIvers, age 56, passed away on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at her residence. Born in The Bronx, New York, Areta had lived in Kearny before moving to Sussex County in 1981. She had been employed as a human resources manager for Dermody Associates-Techflex in Sparta for the past ten years. Areta was a member of St. Monica R.C. Church in Sussex. She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Arthur M. McIvers on Jan. 15, 2013. Areta is survived by her son, Arty McIvers, and his wife, Erica, of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; her daughter, Angelica Freykar and her husband, John, of Montague; her brother, Michael Scelso of Kenilworth; her two sisters, Lydia Leoncini and her husband John of Manville and Linda Scelso of Roseland; and her grandson, Ethan McIvers.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24,

2014 at Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Monica R.C. Church, 33 Unionville Avenue, Sussex. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
