— Many families struggle with providing adequate, nutritious food for their loved ones and Sussex County is no different.

RoNetco Supermarkets with ShopRite stores in Sussex, Morris and Warren counties recognizes and responds to this need by working with local food pantries to replenish shelves and provide funds that are so desperately needed.

Recently, members of the Vernon United Methodist Church and the Newton ShopRite joined forces to combat hunger in the County.

ShopRite’s Partners in Caring events are going on throughout the month of September in all seven of the RoNetco ShopRite stores. There are race cars on display, barbeques, carnivals, bake sales, and more all happening on the weekends.

The Cheerios Race Car was recently parked outside the Newton ShopRite for customers to see. While this was going on, the Vernon United Methodist Church and ShopRite associates were taking monetary and food donations for their food pantry.

Customers would buy extra cans of food while they were shopping, and donate them on their way out. The pantry at the VUMC serves 50 to 70 families each month, and they take donations daily. They are located on Route 94 in Vernon.
