Bark for Life fundraiser held in Vernon

Saturday included a rainy morning and was hardly the best of all possible days to visit the Vernon dog park. But with banners along the roadway that read “Fight Back, Remember, and Celebrate” visitors and their dogs came out to support the Bark for Life cancer fundraiser.

According to organizer Alex Baron, about 50 people were expected to come out, but that number was significantly reduced by the weather as walkers armed with umbrellas made their way across the rolling fields of the park.

The purpose of the event was to raise funds and general awareness of the organization’s fight against cancer.
