The Sussex-Wantage Board of Educaiton approve various curricula for grades 6-8 on Aug. 27. After the meeting, school board President Thomas Card said that the board is required to read and approve the curricula.

He said it is one of the basic functions of the board.

Card also said the Board of Education loses some education with the Common Core standards having been adtopted. If something is mandated by the Common Core, it must be included in the curricula.

According to Card, one positive aspect of the Common Core is it will put all districts in the same direction and give students the same information.
