Wantage Township authorizes Lake Neepaulin purchase

    The Wantage Committee unanimously authorized the purchase of Lake Neepaulin on Thursday, Aug. 21.

    The committee previously voted to take ownership of the lake on July 17, ending the need for a special assessment in the township.

    In order to pay for the Lake Neepaulin Dam and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Agency loan interest and principle payments, the committee also unanimously authorized an emergeency appropriation from the township's 2014 budget.

    Fire truck purchase
    The committee unanimously voted to purchase a fire truck and improve roads.

    As a result, the Committee appropriated $1,209,600. It also authorized the issuing of $1,149,120 in township bonds or notes to finance part of the cost.

    Volcanic Road improvement
    The Wantage Committee voted unanimously to accept the following bids for the Volcanic Road.

    Wantage Excavating will prepare the road for $78,186.75, and Tilcon New York will pave the Volcanic Road for $39,898.18 under the Morris County Cooperative Pricing Council paving contract.

    Colesville Fire Department Parking Lot

    The committee unanimously authorized appropriating $40,000 to improve the Colesville Fire Department Parking Lot.

    Contracts for the project were awarded to Earth-Tech Associates to grade, mill, and install the lot for $12,510.

    Tilcon New York will pave the lot for $19,170.55.

    Denville Line Painting will complete the line striping for $1,044.
