Jeffrey P. Makowski, a 2010 graduate of High Point Regional High School, has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army after successfully completing the Army Reserve Officers Training Corps program and graduating with a bachelor's degree from West Virginia University.

He will be branched to a specific corps in the Army to serve on active duty or in the Army National Guard or Army Reserve. The lieutenant will attend an officer basic course relating to his or her particular military occupational specialty/job. Afterward, the officer will complete advanced training by attending basic officer leadership courses for career progression purposes.

Makowski is the son of Denise and Peter Makowski of Inman, S.C.

Jared B. Morgan has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal.

The medal is awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the Army, have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service.

Morgan is the son of Jayne and Donald Morgan of Sussex, N.J.

He is a 1998 graduate of Vernon Township High School, Vernon, N.J. He earned an bachelor's degree in 2002 from Montclair State University, Montclair, N.J.
