Applebee’s is flippin’ flapjacks for student veterans

Spirit of the Arts and Sussex County Community College (SCCC) are teaming up with Applebee’s in Newton to raise funds for SCCC student veterans. The restaurant will open early at 8 a.m. on Aug. 23 for this special flapjack breakfast. SCCC Veterans Services, Spirit of the Arts and the Knights of Columbus will volunteer to greet, serve and bus tables.

The tickets are $13 which includes a short stack of pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice and coffee. Advance purchase of tickets is recommended as space is limited. To get tickets now, visit https://flapjacks.eventbrite.com.

Additionally, a “Rockin’ Fest” concert has also been scheduled for Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the campus at Sussex County Community College. The concert will feature seven bands from around the area performing a mix of classic rock, blues, country and pop music. For more information about this event visit rockinfest.org.

Proceeds from these events will go towards assisting SCCC student veterans with their financial needs while attending college.
