Vernon holds 4th annual National Night Out

Although a few hundred family members turned out for the township’s fourth annual National Night Out, the weather forecasters won another bet as several lightning flashes resulted in an early close to the evening at Maple Grange Park on Aug 5.

At about 9 p.m. when the film “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” was planned to begin, a heavy pocket of rain briefly traversed the northern areas of the township.

The nation-wide 31st annual anti-crime event is meant to discourage youngsters from experimenting with drugs and alcohol.
