    George Eptamenitis, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Morristown Medical Center while surrounded by his devoted wife and loving daughter. Born on July 28, 1927 in New York City to the late Andonious and Irene (Stamatelis) Eptamenitis, he had lived in Sussex since 1967. Mr. Eptamenitis had served in the United States Army during the Occupation of Italy following the end of hostilities of World War II in the 149th Regiment, 88th Infantry Division in Italy, and in the Korean War in the 32nd Regime 7th Infantry Division. He worked for WTOP (CBS) in Washington, D.C. as a TV Engineer and in the Aero–Space industry as a technical writer, retiring as an Integrated Logistics Support Manager. Mr. Eptamenitis was a member of the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church in Wantage. He served the community of the Borough of Sussex as a board member of the High Point Regional High School, a member of the Sussex Borough Zoning Board of Adjustments and as a member and past president of the Sussex Borough Health Board. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Iphegenia E. Mihalopoulos and Sapho E. Mavros. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Despena (Kaliaris); his daughter, Sophia Eptamenitis of Morristown; and his nephew, Solon Mihalopoulos, his wife Shirley and their son Jason of Sugar Loaf, Pa.

    Burial service was held on Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church, 102 Route (Hwy) 284, Wantage. Interment followed at Clove Cemetery, Wantage. Friends paid their respects on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church, 102 Route (Hwy) 284, Wantage, NJ 07461.
