Rickey Farm holds second FarmFest

Last year’s inaugural FarmFest, held at Rickey Farm, was a sleepy affair that didn’t draw too much attention. However, this year’s three-day event, under the direction of promoter Tim O’Hearen, drew some 2,200 paid admissions.

It also hoped local businesses as the visitors shopped locally and found much-needed supplies at the Vernon A&P. Two performance stages kept the music going and artists creating works throughout the fields added a creative bend to the event, for which the weather cooperated.

Around the central festival area hundreds of cars and tents covered not only the area near the field, but up-and-down the slopes and nearly down to Route 94 below.

According to promoters, the three-day outdoor event was a combination of music and arts that emphasized conscious living and environmentalism. It featured jam bands, new age music, live painters, yoga/meditation workshops, art installations and food/craft vendors.
