Lisa had best marks in high jump, long jump

    Scott Lisa (Vernon High School) was a senior for The College of New Jersey (Ewing) men’s outdoor track and field program.

    Lisa had his team’s best marks all season in both the high jump and long jump. He had TCNJ’s second-best distance in both the shot put and javelin throws. Lisa also had the Lions' third fastest time in the 100 meter-dash.

    Lisa won the high jump event at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held in Ewing. As a team, the Lions placed first at the NJAC championships.

    Jenna Harper (Vernon High School) was a sophomore listed as a defender for the Alvernia University (Reading, Pennsylvania) women’s lacrosse program this spring. Harper played in all 19 games and started in 16 of them for Alvernia. She scored three goals for the Crusaders.

    Alvernia posted an overall mark of 9-10 and recorded four victories at home.

    Matt Wighard (Vernon High School) was a sophomore defender for the Albright College (Reading, Pennsylvania) men’s lacrosse team this spring. Wighard played in all 19 games and started in 14 of them for Albright. He scored two goals and had two assists.

    Albright had an overall record of 13-6, including a mark of 5-3 at home. In the Commonwealth Conference, the Lions posted a record of 6-2. They advanced to the Commonwealth Conference championship game before losing a one-goal contest to Stevenson University. Albright then won the Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Championships title with a 14-13 victory over Frostburg State University in a game held in Frostburg, Md.

    Megan Gaughan from Vernon High School was a sophomore outfielder/infielder for the Albright College softball squad this past season. Gaughan played in 18 games and started in 11 off them for Albright. She had three hits, three RBIs and scored three runs.

    The Lions had an overall record of 10-19 and they were 7-5 on their home field. They posted five victories in the Commonwealth Conference.

    Louis Stengel from Vernon High School was a senior distance runner for the Steven’s Institute of Technology’s (Hoboken, NJ) men’s track and field team this spring. Stengel placed fourth in 1,500 at the Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championships held in Rochester, N.Y.

    As a team, the Ducks placed fourth at the Empire 8 Championships.
