Phillip 'Flip' C. LaForge

Phillip "Flip" C. LaForge, age 71, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Homestead Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Frankford Township. Born in Sussex to the late Maynard and Emma (Dunn) LaForge, he lived in Sussex County for most of his life before moving to Florida in 1998 and then moving back to Newton in January 2014. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Mr. LaForge was employed as a corrections officer for the New Jersey Department of Corrections for 28 years and worked at Annandale Correctional Facility and retired from Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility in Montague. He is survived by three children, Phillip C. LaForge, II of Newton; Lannette LaForge of Andover; and Yvonne LaForge and her husband, Frank Ostlinger, of Sandyston; and three grandchildren, Marvin, Matilda, and Hunter. Phil was known by many for his fun loving and helpful nature, to know him was to be his friend. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Friends may pay their respects to the family one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
