Thousands of competitors from across the U.S. and several foreign countries representing every walk of life, age, stage and varying degrees of athletic abilities, along with spectators, will converge on Mountain Creek Waterpark in Vernon, N.J. to tackle Reebok Super Spartan Race.

The Super Spartan will take place Saturday, Sept. 6 and Sunday, Sept. 7.

“The eight plus-mile Spartan Super’s mix of mud and gnarly outdoor obstacles will test experienced racers’ phys-ical strength and mental resolve,” said Spartan Race founder Joe De Sena.

“The unique obstacle course will demand every ounce of strength, ingenuity and animal instinct you thought you lost three generations ago,” De Sena continued, adding that course details are kept secret until competitors experience them firsthand on race day.

Events will start at 8 a.m. Final race-day schedules will be posted on the Spartan Race web-site a few days prior to the event dates.

Daylong activities also will include the Jr. Spartan Adventure Race benefiting Kids Fit Foundation. A leader in the movement to help children learn life-long health and fitness habits, Kids Fit Foundation strives to raise awareness and develop programs that educate, empower and inspire kids to become and stay fit.

Founded in 2010, the race series expects to attract one million athletes at more than 80 events in 2014, many of whom are people looking for a new alternative to more traditional forms of fitness.

Spartan Race currently has more than three million “likes” on Facebook and is one of the fastest growing series in the sport of obstacle racing.

Mountain Creek Waterpark is located at 120 Route 94 in Vernon, N.J. For more information, a schedule of events and to register for a race visit www.spartan.com.
