Vernon hires new fire marshal

    Vernon Township has hired a new Fire Marshall to fill the vacancy left in April by the resignation of David Tynan, Jr.

    Louis Tosto was appointed township fire marshal on Monday, beginning July 27 at a yearly salary of $55,000,000.

    Tosto is the former chief of the Lodi Fire Dept. and also spent time as a fire inspector and investigator in Lodi and Rochelle Park Township. He also is a fire inpector for the Paterson Fire Dept.

    The township is required by a directive of the state to have a fire marshal

    Tynan resigned in April after Vernon officials became aware that he was under investigation by Warren County for criminal charges. He later agreed to a plea arrangement with Warren County and has not been found to have had any illegal activities in Vernon Township.
