    John Saski, Jr., 73 years old, died after a brief illness at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover, N.J., on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Born to John and Ann Saski in Franklin, N.J., he had lived in Franklin, Ogdensburg and then Vernon Twp over the last 42 years.

    Mr. Saski served with the United States Army from 1960-1963 and was stationed in France for the majority of that time. He later worked as a welder/pipefitter for DuPont in Pompton Lakes and Givaudan in East Rutherford, N.J., before retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Wallkill Valley VFW Post #8441 in Vernon Twp., N.J., and enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and birdwatching. He took great joy in visiting New York City and spending time with his friends there.

    Mr. Saski was predeceased by his father, John Saski, Sr. and is the beloved husband for 45 years of Dorothy Saski(nee Stalevicz) of Vernon Twp., N.J., devoted father of Lisa Marie Saski of New York City, N.Y., dear brother of Patrick and Michael Saski of Franklin, N.J., Stephen Saski of Wantage Twp., N.J., and David Saski of Fort Knox, Ky., and loving son of Ann Saski of Franklin, N.J. He was cherished by his nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive their friends for Memorial Visitation at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, N.J., on Saturday, July 5, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. Cremation was private. Box 463, Vernon, NJ 07462 would be appreciated.
