Glen Meadow Middle School student Kari O’Brien won the Scholastic Scope “De-Stress” national contest from the March 2014 issue.

O'Brien, a seventh-grade student in Mrs. Clifford’s Language Arts class, wrote a letter to a friend in China explaining the causes of stress as well as healthy ways of coping.

“You did a terrific job drawing details from both texts to support your ideas. We were very impressed with your entry,” said Scope Assistant Editor Natasha Kouri.

O'Brien received a copy of the book, "Page by Paige" by Laura Lee Gulledge, in addition to this prestigious accolade.
