Lounsberry Hollow volunteers honored

VERNON — volunteers at Lounsberry Hollow Middle School were honored with an appreciation brunch held in their honor in the school library.

Continuing the tradition of a themed brunch, this year’s guests entered into The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party complete with Alice, The Mad Hatter and even The White Rabbit portrayed by co-chairwomen Keri Frawley, Barbara Monschauer and the school’s principal, Dr. Stewart Stumper.

Guests were entertained by a student orchestral group and the school’s choir, both talented groups who delighted the assembled volunteers. The party included many creative compositions including a variety of poetry and artwork created by many of the school’s grateful students.

Also included in the morning’s festivities was an Alice in Wonderland trivia game, bottles on water marked, “Drink Me”, and an array of food, including quiche, a variety of salads and other delicious entrees, desserts, and a candy buffet all donated by grateful staff members. Volunteers also were given a certificate honoring their work in the school.

The event was organized by a committee of teachers from the school and donations came from the faculty and staff. As a final tribute to the volunteers, a monetary donation was made to Harvest House, a local community program in honor of the volunteers.

“Each year, I am humbled by the amount of work our volunteers contribute to our school. Without them, we would not have such an enriching and positive school environment.” said Monschauer.

Stumper also expressed his gratitude to volunteers, emphasizing the importance of parent volunteers in creating a school climate focusing on high expectations for student success and growth.
