Why did the turtle cross the road?

A misplaced snapping turtle decided to cross Route 94 in Newton on June 14.

The wayward beastie was rather fast moving for a turtle, but several good samaritans stopped their cars — and in turn, traffic — to ensure he made it across safely.

Apparently, snappers can have nasty dispositions when out of water, so it's a good thing no one got too close.

Car horns formed an impromptu band to urge him forth, and in a few minutes, he was out of harm's way.
