Bridge work to close Rudetown Road

VERNON — The Sussex County Division of Engineering is developing plans for repairs a concrete culvert on Country Highway 517 (Rudetown Road) in Vernon starting in July.

The proposed work will involve replacement of concrete and corrugated metal pipe, and the stabilization of shoulder and guide rails. In order to complete these repairs, a full closure and detour of Rudetown Road will be necessary for the duration of construction.

The work is currently scheduled to commence in July to avoid any affects to school busing operations, and will be performed using in-house county crews. The work is expected to take about three to four weeks.

The proposed detour will take traffic along Route 94 into Hardyston Township before meeting again with Route 517 in Hamburg.
