First Hope Bank of Sussex County recently contributed to the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Morris and Sussex Counties' fundraiser, which has raised more than $13,000.

CASA has partnered with school districts, law firms and other businesses in Morris and Sussex counties. These funds will directly support advocacy for children in the foster care system.

In an effort to raise awareness for children who are victims of abuse and neglect during April's National Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie designated Friday, April 4, as CASA Child Advocate Day. CASA of Morris and Sussex Counties recognized this day by engaging the community to "go blue" by wearing denim to school or work. In exchange for wearing blue, each participant donated $5 to CASA. The goal of this event was not only to raise funds to support daily advocacy for these children, but also to heighten awareness of the plight of the most vulnerable children in the community.
