Glen Meadow Middle School recently hosted Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, a former member of the hip-hop trio, Run DMC, who sent a message regarding the importance of education and his work with children.

McDaniels is a motivational speaker and works for children’s groups, including children in foster care and adoption.

He spoke on April 4 about “putting education first” and how “school prepares you for life.” He motivated students to “view school as an assignment to be completed” and that “teachers are put in their life to give them a chance and teach them where they are supposed to go.”

He instructed the students to “take advantage of every opportunity, including having a Plan B.”

“You have a purpose & destiny to do something great," he told the students. "Live the life you were given! Complete your assignment! You have an assignment for greatness!”

After the assembly DMC took many pictures and selfies with students, who have written many thank you letters and autographs that will be delivered to McDaniels.
