    Arlene E. Hartman, 78, died unexpectedly Tuesday Sept. 17, 2013 at her home in Sussex. Miss Hartman, daughter of the late David and Rose (Barasch) Hartman was born in Sussex April 8, 1935. She was a lifelong resident of Sussex.

    Miss Hartman was a school teacher at Hardyston Twp.Elementary School for 40 years, retiring in 2001, and was formerly honored as Sussex County Teacher of The Year. She was very active with Sussex County Retired Educators Assoc. (SCREA) and was the chairperson of the Scholarship Fund. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Northern Chapter.

    Miss Hartman is survived by her brother, Irwin Hartman and his wife, Ricky, of Wayne, N.J., and Lake Worth, FL; nieces, Deborah Brown of California, Stephanie McGinnis of Oklahoma and Andrea Martens of Wayne as well as her extended family, the Musillis, Lunas and Fergusons. A funeral service will be held Friday Sept. 20, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third St. Sussex. Interment will follow at Temple SinaiC emetery, Circleville, N.Y. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sussex County Retired Educators Assoc. for the establishment of a scholarship in honor of Arlene Hartman, 47 Rt. 206, Suite 2, Augusta, NJ 07822.
