Free tutoring offered in math and language arts

| 11 Jun 2013 | 04:55

Beginning Thursday, July 11 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. free tutoring in mathematics and language arts will be available to any child who will be in the sixth, seventh or eighth grade in the fall. Ninth grade students who are enrolled in Algebra 1 for the fall term are also welcome to attend.

Several licensed, certified and experienced classroom teachers are seeking to give-back to the community they served for many years.

The free tutoring will take place every Thursday morning through Aug. 13 in the Fellowship Hall of the Methodist Church located at the corner of Route 94 and Church St. in downtown Vernon Center.

To have a child participate, call 973-764-3188 at least three days prior to the first meeting on July 11 so that plans can be finalized for the number of children attending.

In addition to the free tutoring program, refreshments and free school supplies (notebooks and pencils) will be provided.

This is a unique, first-time offering to any program of its kind in the history of the Vernon Township school system and possibly in the state of New Jersey.
