Flying Monkey to host outdoor movie screenings, ice cream
VERNON — To celebrate the long-awaited summer, the Flying Monkey Cafe & Deli is inviting the lake community residents of Highland Lakes to free movie nights.
Every Friday and Saturday night starting June 7, weather permitting, the Monkey will host family-oriented films such as "Finding Nemo" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" series outside at no cost. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets in the event that provided seating becomes scarce.
Movies will begin at 8:30 p.m., at which, the Monkey will close its front door and begin serving from its side walk-up window.
In addition to free movie nights, the Monkey is also now serving Dairy Swirl ice cream by the scoop, banana splits, and root beer floats. Other summer specials include deep-fried corn-on-the-cob and Jersey Shore-style sausage, peppers & onion sub sandwiches. Other Flying Monkey favorites available during movie nights include Dragon Fries, chicken fingers, onion rings, nachos, bacon or chili cheese fries, burgers and hot dogs.
