Vernon Gold wins the Hillsborough Hustle Tournament

VERNON — The Vernon under-12 Gold softball team has started its spring season with a 5-2 record, which includes a tournament win in Hillsborough. Vernon defeated the Flemington Flames 9-6, Bridgewater Panthers 8-4, and the Hillsborough Hustle 14-5 to take the Hillsborough Hustle Tournament title.

Vernon also tallied wins against the New Jersey Rocks 4-3 and an inspired victory over the Sparta Diamonds 6-0. In the victory over Sparta, Vernon Gold pitcher Franki Potocki struck out 15 Sparta batters while allowing one infield hit in seven innings.
