High Point LAX captains rise to the challenge
By Joshua Lashley
SUSSEX — Through hard work, a commitment to the program and a drive to help their team in any way possible, Luke Kucinski, Mark Onorevole and Tim Osborn been have named as captains of the High Point boys' lacrosse program this spring.
During their careers as lacrosse players for the Wildcats, Kucinski, Onorevole and Osborn have time and again proven that they are indeed worthy of the honor they currently possess.
“The three of them have been dedicated and valuable players to the team," said head coach Marc Russell. “They have been role models to the younger players and have played through tough seasons, tough games and tough situations including injury. They are hard workers and lead by example, properly executing drills and being dependable."
According to Russell, the three seniors understand what is expected of them on the field and they respond whole-heartedly.
“Luke is one of the team leaders in goals scored and leads the team in assists," Russell said. “Mark and Tim are defensemen that don't have tangible numbers as far as statistics go, but their presence is felt and all three of the captains report to me with game information and strengths and weaknesses that we exhibit to improve the team. Mark has netted a goal this year as a defenseman."
Because of their familiarity with the team, the three captains have been given considerable responsibilities this season. Russell noted that all three captains are also outstanding students in the classroom.
“These three individuals step up and lead drills and are capable of running a practice," Russell said. “The rest of the team will follow them and their guidance if I am busy working with someone one on one."
