Help stop substance abuse

| 15 May 2013 | 12:50

Your choices matter - especially when it comes to your health and well-being.

Choosing to stay substance-free and promote mental health benefits you and the people around you. That is the message behind National Prevention Week 2013, which is taking place this week. National Prevention Week is a SAMHSA-supported annual health observance dedicated to increasing public awareness of, and action around, substance abuse and mental health issues.

For over 40 years, the Center for Prevention and Counseling in Newton has been dedicated to developing the capacities of adults and children to sustain healthy lifestyles by providing services designed to foster addiction-free lifestyles, emotional wellness, financial stability and safe communities.

That is why we are joining with other individuals, organizations, and coalitions across the nation to promote prevention efforts, educate others about behavioral health issues, and create and strengthen community partnerships.

What will you do to make a difference in your life and community?

Visit our website daily during the week to read our topical newsletter and learn more about the day's theme (Prevention and Cessation of Tobacco Use, Prevention of Alcohol Abuse, Prevention of Prescription Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Use, Suicide Prevention, and Promotion of Mental, Emotional, and Behavioral Weil-Being),

And follow us on Twitter at cfpcnj to get related Tweets.

In addition to the special activities and events we are implementing to mark this week, we offer prevention services throughout the year for youth, adults, families, and communities.

To find out more about what we offer, or how we can partner on prevention efforts, please visit www.centerforprevention.org or call us at 973-383-4787. We wish you the best of health!
