HIGHLAND LAKES — Hailey McGovern of Highland Lakes celebrated her 11th birthday on April 14. Instead of gifts for her, she asked her friends to bring dog or cat food to be donated to the Vernon Animal shelter. With a car full of food and treats, she delivered more than 10 bags of dog food and 25 cans of cat food and more to the shelter.
