Chilton to hold stroke screenings
POMPTON PLAINS — Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death and the leading cause of adult disability in the United States.
In honor of National Stroke Awareness Month, Chilton Hospital’s Community Outreach Department is raising stroke awareness through two stroke screenings. They will be held on Thursday, May 2, from 4 to 6 p.m., and Monday, May 13, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Chilton Health Network building, 242 West Parkway, in Pompton Plains.
The screenings include blood pressure screening, cholesterol screening, glucose screening, carotid bruits assessment, atrial fibrillation through pulse palpitation and health education counseling and materials.
Additional information about the screenings
The May 2 screening includes total HDL and TC/HDL ratio. Fasting is not required.
The May 13 screening includes total, LDL, HDL, triglycerides and TC/HDL ratio. Fasting is recommended for accurate results, but not required.
