Walter Ortstein
Walter Ortstein, 79, of Hardyston Twp. died after a short illness at Newton Medical Center, Newton on April 23, 2013.
Born to Walter J. and Rose P. Ortstein in Paterson, he grew up in North Haledon and then lived in Wayne before moving to Hardyston Twp. in 1969.
Ortstein served with the United States Army during peacetime and then worked as a carpenter and construction supervisor for Bomar Builders in Fairfield for many years and then worked for Ramundo Construction, Fort Lee for 10 years before retiring in 1996.
He put much love in his construction of birdhouses and furniture and enjoyed hunting and golf.
Ortstein is survived by his wife of 58 years Marlene R. Ortstein (nee Kessel) of Hardyston Twp.; children Lisa Ann McCann of Chicago, Ill., Dana M. Eisele of Frankford Twp. and Karen L. Garrera of Frankford Twp.; grandchildren Jami Farda, Kelli and Kristi McCann, Matthew and Julia Garrera; and three great grandchildren.
The family will receive their friends for memorial visiting at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to noon. Memorial service to commence at noon. Cremation is private.
