Save the Harvest workshop planned at Vernon Valley Farms

    Vernon Valley Farm will partner with Family and Community Health Sciences of Rutgers University to host a Preserve the Harvest workshop on Sept. 24 or 30. The most popular date will be chosen.

    Participants will have the opportunity to learn equipment, recipes, techniques and food safety measures to ensure a safe and high-quality product.

    There will be a freezing workshop on both days from 10 a.m. until noon and canning workshops will be from 1-3 p.m.

    During the freezing workshop, participants will learn to freeze fruits and vegetables and ensure a high-quality product. The canning workshop will give participants a chance to learn the art of canning fruits and vegetables using the appropriate safe method, by either using a water bath or pressure canner.

    Vernnon Valley Farm is located at 99 Sand Hill Road in Vernon. The cost will be $8 for both sessions or $5 for one. Registration is required. Email liz@vernonvalleyfarm.com to sign up. Space is limited to 15 people.
