Weis Markets to sell festival tickets
AUGUSTA — Weis Markets, which has locations in Franklin and Newton will sell tickets foir the upcoming Rock, Ribs & Ridges Festival, scheduled for the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta.
The fifth annual festival is a celebration of great music from legendary artists and mouthwatering barbecue served up by award-winning regional chefs.The two-day festival moves to its new home at The Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, NJ on June 28-29.
George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Grand Funk Railroad and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Artimus Pyle of Lynyrd Skynyrd head the list of nine performers scheduled over the weekend. Other headliners include the Outlaws, New Riders of the Purple Sage and Leslie West of Mountain.
Barbecue teams, which will compete for thousands of dollars in prize money in a juried rib cook-off, include 2013 Best Ribs champions Chumley’s BBQ & Catering Company of Florida, NY; 2013 “Best Sauce” and “People’s Choice” winner Texas Smoke BBQ of Jefferson Township, NJ; Three Men & a Baby Back of Bergen County, NJ, the 2012 Jack Daniels Invitational World Grilling Champions and the first “Best Ribs” winners at Rock, Ribs & Ridges in 2010; and the award-winning Pigtails Barbecue Company of West Salem, Ohio.
Weis Markets will be the festival’s official retail ticket outlet with general admission tickets now on sale at its stores in Newton, Hackettstown, Franklin, Flanders and Hillsborough. Tickets also are available at Franklin Sussex Auto Mall in Sussex and VIP, multi-day weekend pass, group seating, camping and RV packages along with general admission tickets are available online at www.rockribsandridges.com.
The supermarket chain also will sponsor the “Weis Markets People’s Choice Award” in which festival-goers can choose their personal favorite barbecue team’s ribs and other item offerings. One entry from the votes cast for these awards will each be selected to win a Weis Markets Food Gift Certificate.
A panel of judges will determine the winners for “Best Ribs” and “Best Sauce.”
