Bassani announces bid for county freeholder

Wantage Committeeman and former mayor Ron Bassani recently announced he will run for county freeholder.

He submitted a peteition with 144 signatures on Monday, March 31, to run for the seat as a Republican against incumbent Phil Crabb, who was appointed to his position in February 2008 and was elected in November 2008 and re-elected in 2011.

County freeholders serve a three-year term.

In addition to his time on the Wantage Township Council, Bassani also has sat on the Sparta Board of Education before he and his family moved to Wantage Township.
