Dancers kick off season on right foot

Ziegler Dance Centre’s Z Dance Troupe of McAfee recently attended the Dance Xplosion Dance Competition in Sparta. The dancers dazzled the judges and audience with their talents in Acrobatics, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Musical Theatre.

The dancers are under the direction of Peggy Ziegler, Renee Ziegler, Doreen Ziegler, and Bonnie Sybesma. Out of the studios 69 dance numbers 43 of them landed in the Top 10 overalls in their divisions.

Reese Decker of Hamburg wowed the judges and won 1st Overall and Mr. Junior DXP for his hip hop solo “Bet On It”. Matthew Losco of Vernon gave an incredible jazz performance to “You Really Got Me” and won 1st overall and Mr. Teen DXP. Ava Berner, Hardyston, Makayla Snyder, Franklin, and Sophia VanLeuven, Vernon, performed a jazz to “Material Girl” and danced their way into 1st overall for the Petite Accelerated Division. Duet Partners Cynthia Huhn and Mackenzie Skounakis both of Vernon, performed an emotional and technically precise lyrical to “Save You” and won 1st Overall for the Teen Division. Small group hip hop “Hip to Be Me” won 1st overall in the Petite Accelerator division. “The Revolt”, ZDC’s production, won 1st overall and the “Most Entertaining” for Teen production groups. “Whatever You Imagine” lyrical line, with 48 performers, won 1st overall in the Junior Line division.

As well as, the junior “X Caliber” award for the 12 and under age division; which is the highest scoring routine of the competition. ZDC was also awarded a Studio Excellence award in Musical Theatre and Hip Hop. For more results please visit www.zieglerdancecentre.com
